Flexidiscs older than about 15 years had a different shaft design with two identical steel nuts.
The old design is no longer made but new style parts can be adapted to fit.
The name Flexi-disc was used for the old version and continued for the later version but has been replaced by Flexidisc.

Replacement shaft
A new style shaft can be adapted to fit.
Replace the new plastic nut with one of the two old metal nuts.
(The plastic nut does not give enough grip on the old plate, new style plates have an additional pip to prevent slipping.)
You will need to fit a thick washer as a spacer between the back of the plate and the old nut so the new metal nut can lock the shaft.

Replacement plate
New style plates have an additional pip to prevent slipping when used with with the plastic nuts on the new style Flexidisc.
As there is no corresponding recess in the old style shaft the easiest way to adapt the new plate is to file off the plate pip. If facilities are available a better method is to create a recess in the shaft using a 5mm drill.
